Your data, clearly explained
Privacy policy.
Last updated: 1 October 2026
The Manchester City Case is an independent editorial website operated by Jack Dart. This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, who helps us operate the site and how you can exercise your rights.
Information we handle
Email updates. If you sign up, we collect your email address, your affirmative consent and when you gave it. We also keep a record of whether you have unsubscribed. You do not need to sign up to read the site. Please do not submit someone else’s email address.
Cookie choices. This site stores your cookie-category choices in your browser’s local storage so it can remember them on that device. Essential site operation may involve technical data such as your IP address, browser information and request logs processed by our hosting provider. We do not currently run optional analytics, preference or marketing tools, even if you switch those categories on in the cookie panel.
Contact. If you email us, we receive your address and anything you include in your message so we can respond. The site does not offer user accounts, comments or payments.
Why we use it
- We use your email address to maintain the case-updates list on the basis of your consent. The list is for updates about this case, not unrelated promotions. Email delivery is not active yet; signing up currently saves your choice but does not trigger a welcome email.
- We use local storage to remember cookie choices you make. Optional categories are off by default and currently do not enable tracking.
- We use information needed to serve, secure and maintain the website, and to reply to enquiries, under our legitimate interests in running a safe editorial site and answering readers.
How long we keep it
We keep sign-up details while you remain on the updates list. If you withdraw consent or request deletion, we will remove your details from the active list, subject to any limited records needed to honour your request or meet legal obligations. Technical logs and backups may be retained for limited periods under our providers’ operational policies. Your cookie choices stay in your browser until you change them or clear your browser storage. Contact correspondence is kept only as long as needed to address the enquiry and any related obligations.
Your choices and rights
You can change your cookie choices from the site’s footer. To withdraw your email consent or ask us to remove you from the list before emails are active, email info@themanchestercitycase.com from the address you signed up with. When email delivery is introduced, messages will include an unsubscribe option. Withdrawing consent does not affect use before withdrawal.
Subject to applicable UK data protection law, you may ask to access, correct, erase or restrict your personal data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or request a portable copy where applicable. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office . We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
Changes and contact
Jack Dart is responsible for this website’s handling of personal data. For privacy questions or requests, write to info@themanchestercitycase.com. If our practices change, we will update this page and its date. Material changes to how optional technologies work will not rely on a previous choice made for an inactive category.
